Our Mission
We believe that homeownership creates long-term financial and community stability and offers the potential for wealth creation. Domus LLC is a mission-driven organization dedicated to developing and selling high-quality, energy-efficient homes tailored for middle-income earners. Our focus is to address the critical need for affordable workforce housing and empower middle-income homebuyers.
Our Approach
Domus specializes in building high-quality and affordable workforce housing designed for households earning between 100% and 120% of the area median income (AMI). Without reliance on federal, state, or municipal subsidies, we address the “missing middle” in homeownership by focusing on this underserved segment of the population.
Domus communities feature desirable amenities and construction techniques akin to luxury condominiums but are offered at prices accessible to middle-income homebuyers. Smaller units ranging from 450 to 600 square feet provide affordable homeownership opportunities while maintaining long-term affordability through market-driven pricing.
The underlying theory of our work is that middle-income housing can be naturally affordable without the need for deed restrictions. We champion efficient, sustainable housing solutions that align with the needs of first-time homebuyers of and the middle-income workforce population.
MaineHousing recently made changes to its First Home Loan Program to make it easier for first-time homebuyers of smaller-sized homes to qualify. Click here to learn more.
